da betobet: As reported by the Express and Star, Darren Moore has revealed his policy on the young players at West Brom, explaining why he has been reluctant to use the likes of Sam Field and Rekeem Harper so far this season.
What did he say?
da realbet: “I’ve got a golden rule in my head with any youngster.
“Until you’ve played 75 games, you then become a product, we then know what we’re getting.
“Until he’s played 75 games, you don’t know what you’re getting. It’s a demanding industry to be in at every level.”
What did he really mean?
Moore clearly showed that he does not trust young players to start week in week out, and that those 75 senior appearances should either come as a substitute or during loan moves away from the club before players are ready to be trusted.
His comments also explain why he has favoured experience over youth in the Baggies’ starting XI’s so far during this campaign. In fact, only three teams (Bolton, Middlesbrough and Stoke) have a higher average age of players used in the Championship this season.
With promising youngsters Sam Field and Rekeem Harper limited to just substitute and Carabao Cup appearances though, we wouldn’t be surprised if at least one of the central-midfield pair attempted to force a loan move away from the Hawthorns in January.
The Playmaker FC squad decided to wind-up some unsuspecting Brazil fans at the Emirates on Saturday night. Watch the hilarious results in the video below…
Picking and choosing
However, Moore’s comments seem rather hypocritical when you consider that loanees Harvey Barnes and Tosin Adarabioyo, who are 20 and 21-years-old respectively, have become fixtures in the Baggies side.
Neither of these two have hit that 75 game limit to reach Moore’s supposed golden rule but the West Brom boss clearly does trust them.
This could be bad news for Field especially as the 20-year-old has failed to break into the starting lineup at The Hawthorns despite Moore struggling to find a suitable partner for Jake Livermore in midfield.
