da winzada777: Reiss Nelson is set to miss Arsenal’s Europa League clash with Vitoria, the club have confirmed.
What’s the word?
The 19-year-old has been out with a knee injury in recent weeks, last featuring in the 4-0 win over Standard Liege.
Nelson provided an assist in that game and has been trusted repeatedly by manager Unai Emery this term.
Indeed, he has played against Newcastle United, Burnley, Watford and Manchester United in the Premier League, while also scoring and registering an assist in the 5-0 thumping of Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup.
However, he is set to be missing until November at the earliest, with the Gunners issuing an update on his progress on their official website.
It read: “Reiss Nelson: Left knee (ligament injury). Sustained during the Standard Liege (h) match on October 3. Aiming to return to full training in November.”
Saka’s stay of execution
Bukayo Saka is likely to continue in the left wing role because of Nelson’s injury.
He has played in the last four Premier League games and also lit up the stage when he featured against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League earlier this season, scoring once and registering two assists in a thumping 3-0 win.
The only competition he realistically has, without Nelson being fit, is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang being played out of position.
Against Vitoria, that is unlikely to happen; Saka will surely have another chance to prove himself and could also be included in the XI to play Crystal Palace this weekend.
Every cloud, after all, has a silver lining.
