Spurs youngsters have a better chance of making the big jump to the first team than many do, but it still sometimes needs that little push to get them some experience by going out on loan.
Even their hero, Harry Kane, was out on loan at several clubs and it took patience and, a bit of luck, for him to get his opportunity in the first XI and he’s never looked back. Kane had some poor loan periods before he broke through into the first team and some of Spurs’ current youngsters might need to take the Championship step down before they are ready to truly impress themselves on Mauricio Pochettino.
Wolves are hoping to return to the top flight and it would clearly be beneficial to them to bring in some fresh legs, too. The sort of players who might be looking for a loan at this point will be raw, maybe naive even, but endlessly enthusiastic.
So, here are the five players who could swap a title challenge for Championship football..
Clinton Njie
Njie is a long way down the pecking order at White Hart Lane and must be desperate for more minutes than he has had for the majority of this season.
The Frenchman is rapid and would cause many geriatric Championship defenders problems as he runs off the last man.
Joshua Onomah
Onomah featured in Spurs’ FA Cup defeat to Crystal Palace recently and, although he has had opportunities, is unlikely to feature much in the remainder of the campaign.
Europa League football has become more tricky and the pressures of a title challenge means Pochettino is more likely to stick to trusted individuals.
Harry Winks
Much like Onomah, Winks is not going to get many minutes in Tottenham’s midfield during the rest of the season and the central midfielder must be considering a loan move to get some more senior experience.
Winks has an eye for goal and could begin to cut his teeth in the Championship as he looks to make a career for himself; whether that be at Tottenham or elsewhere.
Kyle Walker-Peters
Walker-Peters is a full-back who is capable on playing on either side of the defence.
Although he is yet to make an impression on the first-team, the youngster is highly regarded at White Hart Lane and could do with some senior football minutes.
Ryan Mason
Hardly likely that Mason will make the move with Spurs still fighting for the Europa and Premier league titles, but the midfielder has been somewhat of an outcast at times during this campaign and could be short of minutes if Spurs go out of the Europa League to Fiorentina.
Mousa Dembele has been back to his best for the majority of this season and Mason could dominate in the Championship.
