The evergreen Modric will continue to grace the Bernabeu for at least one more season. The Croatian's contract was due to expire at the end of June, but a new deal has been reached that will see him remain in Spain long after turning 39.

Modric has taken a backseat at Madrid in recent seasons, due in part to the emergence of Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, Fede Valverde and Jude Bellingham. He started just 18 games as Real cruised to another La Liga title.
Yet Modric is clearly fine with this diminished role as Real's incredible knack for acquiring and developing central midfielders has left them in a position to continue to compete for trophies.
MODRIC'S NEW CONTRACT
Real Madrid said in a statement: "Real Madrid C. F. and Luka Modrić have agreed to extend the contract of our captain, who will be linked to the club until 30 June 2025.
"Modrić arrived at Real Madrid in 2012, and in his twelve seasons representing our shirt he has become a Real Madrid and world football legend."
