Aston Villa are closing in on the signing of Charles N’Zogbia after Wigan agreed to sell the France international for 9.5 million pounds.Wigan were reportedly holding out for a 10-million-pound deal for the 25-year-old, but risked losing him for nothing at the end of his contract next season.
N’Zogbia is expected to work out personal terms at Villa Park over the next 24 hours before undergoing a medical at the English Premier League club.
HIs arrival will help fill the creative void left by former Villa duo Ashley Young and Stewart Downing, who have departed to Manchester United and Liverpool respectively.
In Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signings of Roma striker Jeremy Menez and Saint-Etienne midfielder Blaise Matuidi.
The France internationals have both signed three-year deals with the two-time French league champions.
PSG were acquired by Qatar Sports Investments in June and the new-found wealth of the club is beginnning to show with manager Antoine Kombouare also reportedly interested in Palermo attacker Javier Pastore.
Former Inter Milan boss Leonardo also joined PSG as director of football earlier this month.
In the Bundesliga, Wolfsburg have completed the signing of Germany international Christian Traesch from Stuttgart for an undisclosed fee.
The versatile midfielder has signed a contract until 2015.
Coach Felix Magath was eager to strengthen his midfield and the Wolfsburg tactician has now been given the reinforcement he was looking for.
“I am pleased to have the opportunity to work together with a player like Christian Traesch. He is a superb team player with a lot of stamina,” Magath told the club’s official website.
“He has the energy to do plenty of defensive work, but also shows up in dangerous positions going forward.”
Traesch started his professional career with 1860 Munich before joining Stuttgart in 2007.
